Hugh Hood

Hugh Hardy Hood, III, age 82, of Dallas, Texas, passed away on June 3, 2026. He was born on December 27, 1943, in Texarkana, Texas, to Hugh H. Hood and Cora Crenshaw Hood.

A lifelong Texan, Hugh graduated from Adamson High School in Dallas. He went on to earn degrees from the University of North Texas and the University of Texas at Arlington. He enjoyed a long and respected career with the State of Texas, serving as an Auditor for 25 years.

Hugh had a deep appreciation for travel and maintained a longtime interest in the Spanish language and Mexican culture. His curiosity about the world and other cultures enriched his life and those around him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Hugh H. Hood; his mother, Cora Crenshaw Hood; and his nieces, Rebecca Ann Winborn and Anne Rochelle Winborn.

Hugh is survived by his sisters, Betty Lou Hayden and Mary Ellen Winborn; nieces Ellen Hayden and Anne Bishop; nephews Chris Hayden, Jay Winborn, and John Winborn; and his dear friend Mario Ortega.

A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date. Burial will take place in the family plot at State Line Cemetery in Texarkana, Arkansas.
