Virginia Kathleen (Kitty) Hays Bivens, 75, of Texarkana, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on September 30, 2024. Kitty was born on October 2, 1948, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Joy Kathleen Campbell Leshe and Charles Edward Hays. She married the love of her life, Loyd R. Bivens, on April 5, 1968, and they shared many wonderful years together before his passing.
Kitty is survived by her beloved sister, Charlotte Hays Bivens, and her husband Phil. She was a devoted mother to her three children: daughter Melissa K. Dixon (husband Donald), and sons Douglas R. Bivens and Eric W. Bivens (wife Johna). She was blessed with seven grandchildren, Austin Duran, Danielle Blackwell (spouse Sai), Lauryn Gutzler (spouse Keegan), Madison Bivens, Zach Dixon, Bryce Bivens, and Ava Bivens, and two great-grandchildren, Monroe Blackwell and Amauri Blackwell. She also leaves behind nephews Scott Bivens and Brent Bivens. Kitty was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Loyd.
Kitty worked for SWEPCO for 46 years, where her dedication and work ethic were admired by all who knew her. She had a deep love for travel, dining, and spending time with her family. As a young woman, she cherished caring for and riding horses and later found great joy in watching her granddaughter compete in barrel racing.
A celebration of Kitty's life will be held at Circle J Cowboy Church, 6912 Blackman Ferry Rd., Texarkana, Arkansas, on Monday, October 7th at 11:00 am. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
