Mary Susan Capen

February 16, 1957 — July 24, 2024

Dekalb, Texas

Mary Susan Capen, better known as Susie or more commonly “Mimi” by her loved ones, went to be with our lord on July 24, 2024 at the age of 67. She spent her last weeks surrounded by the love of her friends and family.

Susie was born February 16, 1957 to Patsy Jean Holmes Dorman and Nolan Dorman. She was a devout Christian and member of Faith Baptist Church in New Boston. She enjoyed many hobbies such as horseback riding, reading, and crocheting blankets. However, the truest source of joy in her life, her family. Her love for her family was the greatest light in her life and her love for them is reflected in turn in their love for her. The only thing that came close to her love for her family was her love for her Dachshunds Zoee, Ozee, and Buckee. That love for Dachshunds went on to influence her children and now the family calls itself a 'Red Pup Clan' because of her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 34 years; Richard Lawrence Capen, her son; Jarrett Anthony and her niece; Tina Book.

She is survived by her children; Vanessa Summerlin and husband Tony, Ashley Strain and Jeffery, Reanna Capen, and Amy Ferguson, her grandchildren; Kayla Ratcliff, Jarrett Tutt, Savanah Strain, Ethan Powell, Emma Dornbush, Daniela Rivera, Nyelan McDaniel, Maddox Capen, Anisa Ruiz-Jaranillo, Angel Warvie, Aniah Warvie, Richard Watchman, Sophie, Cass, Skylar, Cameron, and Kizzy, her brother; James Dorman and wife Debbie, her sister; Carol Gray and husband Steven, a special niece; Virginia Dorman Keen and husband Steve, six Great-Grandkids as well as a host of other family and loved ones.

A celebration of her life will be held in her honor 2pm, August 10, 2024 at Faith Baptist Church located at 301 North Bowie Street, New Boston, TX 75570.

Arrangements are being handled by Tri-State Cremation and Funeral Services.
