Joe Henry Henderson, 71, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2025 in the company of his family. He was born on September 22, 1953 to Gordon and Zene Henderson. He was a graduate of Texas High School and lived most of his life in Dallas, Texas, where he retired from AAFES. In October 2024, he celebrated 38 years of sobriety. He loved all sports, especially the Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys, Mavericks, and Stars. He was generous and smart, and he never missed a loved one’s birthday—he was known for serenading them with “Happy Birthday” even over the phone since he was also a talented singer who, when younger, performed alongside his mother at many gospel music events.
Joe is preceded in passing by his parents; sister Betty Henderson; brother Bill Henderson; grandparents; and other dear family members and friends. He is survived and remembered with love by sisters Jane Moore and Kay Wadkins; nieces and nephews Kerri Day (Heath), Jacob Trumble (Beth), Kristi Cottrell (Michael), Joseph Moore (Kelcie), John Coffman (Brenda), Jackie McSwain (Ron), Bill Wadkins (Rosanna); many great, second-great, third-great nieces and nephews; special friend Jo Faye Gossett; and other family members and friends.
Joe will live on through vibrant memories and moments of all kinds, his imprint on our lives never to be forgotten. Condolences go out to all others who cherished him during his time here, and if any would like to donate to their favorite charity in his honor, it would make his spirit smile.
