Felix Jones Martin, also known as ‘Uncle FeWayne,’ was born February 21, 1946, to the parentage of Capp Martin and Bessie Sheperd Martin in Cass County, Texas. He graduated from Fairview High School. He was employed by Brown & Miller Pickle Plant, Weingartens, and Lone Star Ammunition. He was a loyal member of our church family. He could grill and cook like a professional. We all enjoyed his yams, barbeque, peas, and greens. His fast-talking, home-grown vegetables, and watermelons were his trademark. He loved sports and was an avid hunter and fisherman who always had his own creative way of getting his portion of fish and game.
He leaves to cherish his memories: a daughter, Demetra Rockwell; three sons: Gaylon D. Martin, Jefferey J. Greene, and James B. Greene; eight grandchildren: Courtney and Ebony, Terry and Jamada, Kayren, Sierra and Kierra, and Chatigny; six great-grandchildren: Courtland, Savannah, Maddxy, Josiah, Micah, Nolan, and Elijah James. He is also survived by two sisters: Iris Nell Bradford (Dallas) and Leola Ford; and one brother, Ed of Oklahoma City. Two sisters-in-law, Madie and Doris Jean, also survive him.
A daughter, Yvette Anita, and grandson, Chris Rockwell, preceded him in death. He was also preceded by four sisters: Bessie Ann, Naomi, Mandie, and Irma; and five brothers: Felester, Louis, Billy, Clifton, and Alfred.
He was a trusted friend, loyal to family, and loved the horse races, as well as being known as a professional domino player. Felix is gone but will not be forgotten. May the Lord Jesus Christ bless each one of you. Rest in peace, Daddy Felix, PawPaw, and Uncle FeWayne. May God’s blessings be upon all of you! Psalm 23 & 91
