Charles Arthur Markwalter age 80 passed away peacefully at his home in Texarkana on November 7, 2023, after a lengthy battle with kidney disease. He was born November 26, 1942 in Augusta, Georgia to parents Charles Edward Markwalter and Josie Jones Usry.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Joan Richardson and Christine Manks. He is survived by his wife of 36 years June Markwalter, brothers Robert (Bobby) Markwalter (Donna) and Robbie Hamilton, sister Pam Stanley, sons Charles Markwalter, Jr. (Sue) and Christopher Markwalter, Bob Hubbard (Sonja), daughter Debra Nelson, grandson Weldon Markwalter, granddaughter Lauren Hubbard, and nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his cherished friends, the Old Dawgs from high school who remained his close friends throughout the years.
Charles graduated from Titusville High School in 1961 where he was a standout in baseball, basketball, and football. He played basketball at Coco Junior College and later attended LSU. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed woodworking. He had a long career in the paper industry starting in the labor pool and working his way to Manager of Pulp and Power for Georgia Pacific. After retiring from the paper industry, he went into the storage business with his brother Robert.
