Brenda Carol Cockrum

August 6, 1959 — November 2, 2024

Brenda Carol Ammons Cockrum, passed away on November 2nd, 2024 at the age of 65, surrounded by loved ones. Brenda was born in 1959 to Thomas James Ammons and Iva Jean Pinkerton in Osceola, Arkansas. She was blessed with four children.

Brenda loved being a Grannie and attended every event she could that involved any of her many grandchildren.

The phrase “Dynamite comes in small packages” most aptly describes Brenda. She was a fighter until her last breath and was one of the most colorful individuals you could ever meet.

Brenda was never afraid of new beginnings. She started over and recreated herself many times during her life. She could pack an entire house and be ready to move in a matter of hours. Her decorating skills were unparalleled. She would change her home’s entire layout, sometimes daily, until she was happy with the results.

Brenda was creative. She crocheted hundreds of afghans and baby blankets for loved ones. She was a master spray painter and enjoyed thrift shopping and yard sales. Two of her favorite movies were The Color Purple and Fried Green Tomatoes. She would cry during the same scenes every time she watched either movie. She cared for others and had been a CNA since her teen years. Several of her descendants have entered the healthcare field as a result of her influence.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers David and Charles, sister Valerie, and nephew Robert Harrison. She is survived by two sons, Chris and Mac(Teri) McBee, and two daughters Sarah(Chris) Pierce and Kimberli(Chris)Miller. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Lillian and Orryn McBee; JT, Whitney, Mack, Brice, and Kali McBee; Caleb Kingston and Ava and Colin Pierce; Owen Lohr, Sadie, Michele, and Hunter Miller. She is also survived by great-grandchildren Hutson, Haisley, Mac, Kenzie, and Kyleigh, and her nieces Hannah Brown and Brittney Ammons and nephew Thomas Ammons. Brenda also leaves behind four siblings: Bill(Vicki) Ammons, Phyllis Ammons, Jimmy (Glenix) Ammons, and Nina(Jimmy) Hall. She also leaves behind her spiritual husband and best friend John Kingston.
