Billy was known for his career as a retired floor installer and gate attendant for the Corp of Engineers, where he put in countless hours, leaving behind not just floors and gates, but also a legacy of commitment and diligence. His work ethic was truly admirable, and he instilled the values of hard work and devotion into those around him.

To those who were fortunate enough to know him, Billy was the sweetest and most loving man. He radiated warmth and kindness, often leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of family and friends alike. Billy's love for his family was unwavering, and it was evident in everything he did. He cherished each moment spent with his beloved family, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a heartfelt story.

Billy leaves behind his devoted wife, Dolores Hurst, whom he loved for 71 wonderful years. Together, they created a beautiful life filled with joy and laughter. His children, Connie Mears and her husband David, and Billy M Hurst Jr. hold dear the memories of their father’s gentle spirit and unwavering support.

As a proud grandfather, he watched with immense pride as his grandchildren grew. Kim McEntire and her husband Allen, Kendall Bartlett and her husband Chase, Wade Mears and his wife Brittany, Billy Joe Hurst and his wife Cynthia, and Samantha Hurst will carry forward the love and principles he imparted to them.

Billy was also a doting great-grandfather. Luke McEntire, Eve McEntire, Malia Mears, Wyatt Mears, Ava Mears, Zeke Mears, Emmett Mears, Jolie Bartlett, and Weston Bartlett will remember their great-grandfather as a figure of joy and laughter, someone who filled their lives with adorable stories and unwavering love.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Ira and Anne Bell Hurst; his brother, James Hurst; and his sisters, Barbara Clark and Linda Fleming. Their memories are forever cherished in the hearts of those who loved them, each having played a significant role in Billy's life.

As we gather to celebrate the life of Billy Monroe Hurst, let us remember him not just for his work, but for the love and light he brought into this world. His memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of his family, today and always.
