Aurora Maya

Aurora Maya, a beloved homemaker, cherished wife, and mother, passed away on August 14, 2024, at the age of 79 in Texarkana, Texas. Aurora was born on November 28, 1944, in Corpus Christi, Texas. She dedicated her life to nurturing her family and creating lasting memories.

 Aurora was known for her kind and giving spirit, with a unique love language that revolved around cooking for others. She took great joy in spending time with her family, especially during holidays and birthdays, ensuring that every celebration was special with her homemade meals.  

In her youth, Aurora enjoyed visiting the beach, where she found peace and happiness in the sun and sand. These trips were among her most cherished memories, and she often shared stories of her beach adventures with her loved ones.

 A lover of rock ‘n’ roll and a fan of Elvis Presley, Aurora found true happiness in the music that defined her youth. She enjoyed reminiscing about her past, sharing stories that brought joy and a sense of nostalgia to all who listened. Her passion for music and storytelling created an atmosphere of love and connection within her family.

 She leaves behind her loving husband, her daughter Marianne Riojas Sanchez, her niece Sandy Riojas, her nephew Jeremy Riojas, and her stepchildren Maria Rocio Maya, Maria Christy Maya, Luis Maya, María “lupita” Maya and Joaquin Maya. Aurora was also a proud grandmother and great-grandmother, adored by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren who loved her dearly.

 Aurora is remembered fondly by her family and friends, but she was preceded in death by her father, Felix Riojas, her mother, Palmira Esparza, her brother, Felix Riojas, her sister, Prisciliana Riojas, and her infant daughter. While their physical presence may be gone, the legacy of love and kindness that Aurora imparted will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know her. 

Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those she touched with her kindness and unforgettable spirit. Aurora Maya will be missed profoundly by all who knew her.
