Anthony Frank Tomasheski

December 29, 1950 — February 17, 2025

Texarkana

Anthony “Tony” Frank Tomasheski, born December 29th, 1950, passed away at 74 on February 17th, 2025. He is survived by his daughter, Kayli Tomasheski; his sister, Sue Loetscher; his two nieces, Christine Loetscher Lamia and Casey Loetscher Ryckman; and his faithful dog, Boo Boo.

Originally from Hampton Bays, NY, Tony spent most of his life in Texarkana, TX, where he was a fixture in the community for approximately 45 years. After serving in the United States Marine Corps, he spent time working on oil rigs and exploring the country on his motorcycle—true to the spirit of adventure that defined him.

Tony was known for his physical strength—a true force to be reckoned with. Nicknamed "Old Man" by local boxing fans, he competed in the Texarkana Quad State Toughman contest 6 times, even finishing as runner-up twice. But while his strength was undeniable, it wasn’t just his right hook that made Tony stand out—it was his heart.

For nearly 30 years, Tony was the friendly neighborhood mail carrier for the United States Postal Service, a role he embraced with pride. He preferred to walk his route, always with a smile and a kind word for everyone he encountered. He made people’s days just by being there. After his time with the USPS, Tony's hands stayed busy in construction, maintaining his strength and work ethic.

Tony was a simple man, and while he never indulged in many luxuries, he was rich in self-reliance. Never one to buy a new car, Tony drove the same vehicle for years and lived in the same house he bought in 1989. A self-taught handyman, he had a knack for fixing anything—from leaky plumbing to check-engine lights. If something broke, Tony would head to Harbor Freight and put his own hands to work.

And if a friend or neighbor needed help with their own projects, you could bet Tony was there with his toolbelt and a willingness to lend a hand. Whether it was installing a fence, fixing a roof, or getting the TV antenna just right before the big game, you could count on Tony to show up—no matter how big or small the job was. He always knew how to get the job done right.

When it was time to relax, Tony could often be found playing dominoes, strumming his guitar, or enjoying the outdoors—especially at Wright Patman Lake, where he spent many weekends. He was an avid reader, thoughtful inventor, and witty conversationalist.

Tony Tomasheski wasn’t just a strong man physically—he was strong in spirit, with a kind heart and a helpful hand. His passing was unexpected, and he will be missed by all who knew him. But instead of mourning, we invite you to celebrate his life and legacy.
